Week 71: No matter how desperate you are, do not eat the mystery cake
大家好!
This week was insanely busy because us and the STLs got chosen to plan the Zone Conference training for next week. So every day we have had to meet up to plan and work on our slides. We got going and were getting pretty close to being done but then we all didn't feel good about it so we had to start over from scratch. We're feeling really good about what we have now though, we're going to share about the Two Great Commandments and becoming more consecrated, as well as the blessings that go along with that. But it meant that yesterday we were so busy I didn't get lunch, personal study, or dinner. So I was just starving while we were planning, and all they had there was some mystery cake a member gave us. So Elder McClellan and I ate some and it immediately made both of us feel sick. Would not recommend
Highlights
- On Tuesday the trainees had a little devotional/training thing so all the trainers went on quick exchanges to find around and then eat lunch, so we all got to go get lunch together. It was pretty much just all the Elders from my MTC district and the one right after me, so pretty much just a bunch of old friends. So fun
- Our mission is doing a Christmas Choir to perform later in the year, so we had our first rehearsal earlier this week. Super fun and all the songs sound awesome
- After church yesterday we had a random guy named Ken just show up at the chapel. We invited him in and sat down with him and two members and just talked for an hour. He was so cool, asked lots of questions about what makes our church different, why we chose to be missionaries, etc. He was really humble and down to earth, super open minded. The members absolutely cooked, and by the end of the interaction he was ready for church next week and wants to stay in touch and keep chatting together. So cool!!!
Spiritual Thought
For our training on consecration this week we are choosing to focus on the two great commandments, because as we were discussing we felt like the definition of consecration is simply making the two great commandments our greatest priorities in life. When those two things are at the top of our motivations and desires, that's when we become consecrated. And following these two great commandments brings so many blessings into our lives, the biggest of which is the amount of joy we feel. When we choose to live our lives as truly consecrated followers of Christ, we feel the most possible joy. We choose to do and say things that will keep our conscience clear, we develop a deeply personal relationship with Heavenly Father and the Savior, and we feel increased joy as we serve others
Love you all!
