Week 33: No loaves and two fishes

Image
大家好! The title of this week's email is because yesterday during a ward activity one of our members who is s little mentally unstable sometimes pulled out two cooked fishes in foil, leans over to me and goes "real Bible story: take two fishes and feed everyone." So he goes around the room trying to pass it around to everyone and everyone is like "Bro how are we supposed to eat it" so he just ate them himself. So realistically it worked, he only had two fish but everyone who wanted to eat the fish got some Highlights: - We got transfer news! I'm staying in the same area, still with Elder Yip, but I'm district leader now! Should be fun haha - Interviews with mission president were fire, got some good advice for my area which was awesome! - We had another ward activity at this place called Van Gogh kitchen. We got invited to come and introduce ourselves and do a musical number since some members invited non-members friends. It was fire! I also ran into a m...

大家好! Not gonna lie nothing really too crazy happened this week, so this email might be pretty short. We had Zone Conference on Friday which was amazing! I always love going to Zone Conference. For part of Zone Conference I played guitar to accompany a musical number, which was my first time accompanying on guitar. It went super well though, it was awesome! Highlights: - I ate pizza like three times this week cause there's an authentic New York-style pizza place like 5 minutes from out chapel - I got to go on exchanges with Elder Shields! He's super fun, our exchange was lit - For P-Day last week we had a Zone P-Day and all went hiking and then got hot pot. It was awesome, it'd been a while since I went hiking so it was super fun - My companion Elder Yip has an ankle that he broke a long time ago that didn't heal right, meaning he can't really run on it. So I hadn't been able to go running for exercise in a long time, but on exchanges with Elder Shields we went r...

Week 31: I'm too popular here help 😭

大家好! To explain the title of this email: I currently serve on Hong Kong Island which has a ton of super touristy spots, the kind of places everyone goes when they go on vacation to Hong Kong. Which means there's a lot of people who travel from Mainland China to visit those spots. And they really like white people. And they all stare at me so much all day every day it makes me so uncomfortable sometimes 😂 It's kind of interesting because I'm so unused to having that many people staring at me all the time. Anways, I miss the boonies a little bit haha Highlights: - We had a ton of finding time this week. The first half of the week was some pretty rough finding, we would find for 3-4 hours in the day and have little to no success. On Wednesday we hit a low point where we found for 4 hours total that day and had maybe two people stop and talk to us. Elder Yip and I were pretty done after that, but we took a quick break on the trolley ride back to the chapel and got our spirit...

Week 30: Basically a heist movie

大家好! God sometimes has the craziest timing and plans. For example, on Thursday I ended up on exchanges with my trainer, Elder Chuy because he ended up as my ZL this transfer. It was actually insane that it worked out that way, but it was seriously the best part of the week. We jumped right back in where we left off and had some fire conversations about missionary work and motivation, and also caught up on a bunch of stuff. Such a blast. Highlights: - I went on back to back exchanges so I wasn't in my area for two days which is kinda crazy. It was awesome though cause I got some really good advice and inspiration to take back to my area - This week I really learned to be thankful and look for the blessings I have. We had a pretty rough week in terms of missionary work and weren't able to get near any of our goals we'd set. But Elder Yip and I were able to keep our spirits up by looking for the positives and remembering what miracles and blessings we'd had - We snuck in...
