Week 70: Apples and apostates

 大家好!

This week we were given some New Zealand apples from a member, which were super good. And my best friend in the Ward, Brother Wong, hasn't watched General Conference yet, and when I asked him why he told me he's going apostate. So we're going to go visit him next week to teach him about repentance. Not actually though I think he's joking. Probably

Highlights
- Some members took us out to the best Dim Sum I've had in Hong Kong, it was so good. But it came in rounds. Round one was lit and some of the best food I've ever had at Dim Sum. Round two was also incredible with some super tasty stuff. By round three I was feeling pretty full, and that's when all the weird stuff came out. We were trapped. And the Sisters were full. I ate waayyyyy too much that day haha
- Going to transfers was awesome, I got to run into a bunch of old friends and catch up, and also got to see my cousin again! Super fire. That's also where I met my new trainee, Elder Joslyn! He's super cool, and ready to work hard as a missionary. We've already been doing some great missionary work together, he's awesome
- Got to watch General Conference! And holy moly this General Conference was incredible! I'm super excited to start digging back in to those talks and really unpack what was said because there was so much good stuff
- I keep accidentally spawning in this one crazy old Chinese lady that keeps asking me to marry her. This is like the 5th time I've spawned her in on the way home in like 3 weeks

Spiritual Thought
One of my big takeaways of General Conference was just that Jesus Christ is not just the Savior because He saves us from sin and death (although those are critical) but also because He saves us from our trials, our struggles, and our burdens. But as President Eyring highlighted, this doesn't always mean that He removes our trials. The Hymn "How Firm a Foundation" doesn't say "fear not I will take your trial away," because first of all it wouldn't fit in the verse, but more importantly because that's not what happens. He says "fear not, I am with thee." No matter what we experience we don't have to fear because He is there always. He never leaves. And that is a stunning promise on its own

Love you all!
