Week 68: LET'S GO CHARLES!!!!!
心急吃不了熱豆腐!
Ever since I got back to Sheung Shui and saw Charles again my goal has been to help his family get sealed in the temple. His father passed away at the beginning of this year, which was really hard on him. And his Sister is now being taught by the Sisters, and so we've been talking a lot with him about helping his family to learn more about the church so they can all be sealed. This week we grabbed lunch with him again and chatted about how he could continue to help his family work towards that goal. But then the conversation took a bit of an unexpected turn because he started asking lots of questions about missionary work and missions and stuff... And then he dropped on me that HE'S BEEN THINKING ABOUT GOING ON A MISSION!!!!! He's still in the early stages of thinking about it, but he's seriously considering it which makes me so excited and so happy. I suggested that he look into getting his Patriarchal blessing so that he can receive guidance, and he said he'll look into it. So hyped for him
Highlights
- Last week for Pday we played some sports and then went to the library and spent like an hour looking at pictures of sharks and birds. Way more lit than it sounds, trust
- We went balloon finding again this week and it was mega successful, we found the golden time. We had so many people lining up for balloons that we were backed up for like 30 minutes. And our members came in clutch talking to the people about church while we made the balloons. Super fire
- We had our English activity on Thursday night and only two people came, but holy cow they were lit. It was a dad named Vincent and his daughter Molly. We did just a normal English activity, but during the spiritual thought Vincent interrupted and started asking tons of questions about what makes our church different and was super interested in the Restoration! We taught them a little bit, gave them a Book of Mormon, and rescheduled them for a lesson next week! They're super cool, really excited!
- Had interviews with President and Sister Hill! They were so good. I shared about the cool miracles with Charles and how thankful I am to be working with him again, and also a lot of what I've been struggling with this transfer. They were so supportive and so helpful, I was really grateful for their help
- It was Mid-Autumn festival this week so Elder Lau and I got invited to a member meal in the middle of no where. The bus was completely full so we went on a side quest of a lifetime where we almost got jumped by a dog, walked alongside the train tracks, and made a 45 minute walk 25 minutes long and got there 3 minutes late. Twas quite lit
Spiritual Thought
Something I've really learned this week is that it truly is by small and simple things that great things are brought to pass. Sometimes we feel like we need to be able to make some huge difference and fix everything, and that can sometimes feel overwhelming. In reality the Lord knows that oftentimes our best efforts are still lacking, are still small. But really it's doing the small things and doing them consistantly that actually affect change. The Lord magnifies our efforts and through our small acts the Lord will bring about great things. We don't have to be the catalyst for huge change. We just have to be willing and move forward
Love you all!
