Week 51: I ride a boat to learn why the Scots hate Campbell
大家好!
This week was outrageous and time didn't exist, we were scrambling to get everything done. Also we rode a ferry out to one of the islands in our Mission because there is a family that lives out there and they wanted to feed us. So we took the 30min ferry ride over, they fed us some fire Mexican food, and then we headed back at nighttime through Victoria Harbor. It was SO COOL, we were so lucky to get to go. Also while there our friend Campbell was chatting with the family, named the Campbells. Turns out everyone in Scotland still hates everyone in the Campbell clan cause they killed a bunch of people while in their keep which is a big no no. So 800 years later and they still get bullied for being named Campbell. Crazy beef
Highlights:
- This week we met with a recent convert who just moved into our branch. He's from Nigeria originally and is in Hong Kong as a refugee. We gave him a priesthood blessing because he has been sick ever since he got detained for two weeks. Talking to him was an amazing experience, something I'll never forget. He shared his story with us and he has had a hard life and how has an even harder time. But he kept talking about how thankful he is for what he has, and has such a positive outlook despite his challenges. I was amazed by how well he handles all of his struggles
- I had exchanges with Elder Faaola Moe from Samoa on Saturday and it was a blast. The other Elders took all the lessons and stuff, and our meeting got cancelled, so we just got to find for 3 hours and it was awesome. We just headed all the way out to a spot we felt directed to go, and had some amazing miracles. We met a guy who's son wants to get baptized, a Filipina who has a friend who has been curious about our church for a long time who we are now trying to get to church, and chatted with a couple from Germany. So fire!

Spiritual thought
Something that has really been driven home to me in English work is that you can be happy no matter what your circumstances are. I have met people who are completely stuck in life with no way to earn money, no way to improve their living situation, stuck because of circumstances out of their control. But I've seen them joyfully do what they can do and turn to the Lord for strength. These members are so strong and their faith truly does give them hope in Jesus Christ. I'm so impressed by their endurance, faith, and examples. While I've never experienced anything close to what they experience, I have a strong witness that no matter what comes our way in life, it can be endured through the strengthening power of Jesus Christ and His Atonment
Love you all!!
