Week 49: We got Chinese Brad Pitt to church
大家好!
We had a nuts week this week that ended in some mind blowing stuff. I'll just cover as much as I can without making this too long haha
Highlights:
- 2 weeks ago we met a guy on the street named Anthony. We met with him through call, then in person, and then yesterday he came to church for the first time. When we got him to church all the members were going crazy so we asked what was up and they said that our friend, Anthony, is Anthony Perry, or 黃秋生 (Wong Chau-Sang) and is an incredibly famous Hong Kong movie star. We asked how famous he is and they told us it would be like if Brad Pitt walked into Sacrament meeting. So that was pretty crazy to find out, we'll see if we can get him baptized haha
- On Thursday we had a Zone find all the way up in the New Territories which was super fun! We talked to a ton of cool people and tried to get the Sisters there some more friends
- Friday we went to the temple and then a service at the food angels place again. So super spiritual day, so fun!
- Saturday we did exchanges and I went with Elder Scow, where we found out we are like literally the same person. Super fun and chaotic day that started with us running to 7/11 to buy disposable underwear for a baptism because the Baptizer forgot to bring his own. We had 5 minutes until a meeting started so we had to HAUL IT.
And the rest of the day didn't get any less chaotic haha
- Our zone still has a lot of struggling missionaries that we're trying to help, and it's been a little overwhelming with how much there is to do between helping friends, helping missionaries in the zone, and all the other meetings and things to do. I've been a little stressed out this week, which is new for me because I don't tend to get stressed a lot of the time. Elder Smith, my companion, is goated though and reminded me that stress doesn't help get anything done, and that faith gets rid of fear and stress too. So we've been working on that too haha.
Spiritual Thought
In the Celestial Room this week I was praying for guidance to know how to help the missionaries in the zone. I'd been feeling like I had no idea what to do, and wasn't sure if the things I were doing were the right things. But I flipped open to D&C 6, which is the first time in my life I've just opened the scriptures at random and opened to exactly what I needed. Verse 14: "As often as Thou hast inquired Thou hast received instruction of my Spirit. If it had not been so, Thou wouldst not have come to the place where Thou art at this time." I loved this so much because it answered my prayer perfectly. God was saying "I have been answering your prayers, and guiding you as often as you asked. I wouldn't have put you where you were if I wasn't going to guide you." I loved that reminder so much. I think most people want so badly to be guided by the Lord, and sometimes it feels like His hand isn't in our lives, that we have to push forward alone. This was a reminder for me that sometimes we don't see or feel His hand until later on, looking back. So keep pushing forward, keep taking action, and trust that He is guiding us, even when we feel blind.
Love you all!!
