Week 41: Elder Kearon and some crazy people

 大家好!

Elder Kearon came to our mission this week!! It was absolutely amazing to have the opportunity to hear an apostle of God give a message specifically to us and to get to meet him. We got to each individually shake his hand and introduce ourselves which was so cool. Then we had a 2+ hour devotional that was amazing and also interactive which was a little nerve-wracking haha. My companion decided to volunteer for something which actually meant both of us got volunteered and I got called out cause Elder Kearon told me not to have my hands my pockets 🙈 He was incredible though, I'll share more of my thoughts later

Highlights:
- For the crazy people lineup we have a dude who we met with who wouldn't stop yapping for like ever and then we finally got in a short message, invited him to church, and he was like nah that's okay I'm just gonna sleep. So kind of an L. And then the other crazy dude was an old guy who had our phone number from years ago and called us to come visit him in the hospital so we were like great! And then we get there and chat with him and all he talks about is the war in the Middle East and keeps asking for chocolate. Then afterwards his nurse informs us that he's mentally unstable and also allergic to chocolate so we should be careful and also not bring him chocolate cause he might die. So that was interesting
- Had Zone Leader exchanges with my 27 year old Zone Leader. It was so fun, he had a lot of fire insights to share and I learned a bunch from him

Spiritual thought:
There was a lot that Elder Kearon shared with us that I could talk about here, but I'll keep it to the thing that stood out to me the most. He and Sister Kearon both talked about getting out of the boat, referring to when Peter got out of the boat and walked on water. They talked about how enormous this act of faith is, even though he starts to doubt and sink later. They shared about how the Atonement covers all the mistakes we haven't even made yet, so we can't let ourselves be paralyzed by indecision; we have to get out of the boat and take that first step, acting in faith and trusting that the Savior will catch us when we fall. I loved that so much because for a lot of my life I've been a person that needs to have all the details figured out before I act. But on the mission I've been learning to just start moving and trust that the Lord has my back, and I have seen so many blessings come from taking those leaps of faith

Love you all!
