Week 40: I'm surrounded by youngins
大家好!
It's been a pretty odd transition week not gonna lie 😂 We had transfers and now I have three completely different Elders in my apartment, my district only has 4 of the same people as it did last transfer, and there are 3 brand new trainees. It's been a bit trippy getting used to all the new faces, but so far it's been going well! All the new people are chill
Highlights:
- On Tuesday, we taught deaf members and a deaf friend for a total of 3 hours and my brain was so dead by the end of it. So fun though, gonna miss the GOAT 陳姊妹
- At transfers, I was walking past where all the brand new straight out of the MTC missionaries were sitting and one of them saw my nametag and said, "Hey, are you Elder Blankenbiller? Your uncle who works at the Provo temple said to tell you hi!" So shout-out to Uncle Ken haha, thanks!
- On Friday, we had our first District Council of the transfer, so I got to meet all the new peoples in the district. It's definitely a different vibe and one I'll have to get used to. I do miss the missionaries that were in my District last transfer, but I know after a while I'll get settled into this transfer too
- On Saturday, we participated in a ward primary activity that was focused on missionary work. The primary presidency's idea was to have the kids hand out little cards and treats to people who obeyed traffic laws when crossing the street. To be honest I thought it sounded kinda odd at first but can't argue with results, all the kids loved the activity and they ended up giving a card to a guy who the Sisters then talked to and gave a Book of Mormon too. Fire activity, the kids were all super fun
Spiritual Thought
We had ZLC on Sunday, which is where all the missionaries who have leadership responsibilities meet together to discuss the needs of the missionaries we serve. I asked about how I can best help my district since they're all such young missionaries. Something that Elder Chuy said that I loved is "Look for ways to love someone when it's not scheduled." I love that thought because I feel like a lot of the time we can get caught up in just doing the bare minimum of our callings and feel like we're doing enough. But the most meaningful difference we can make is truly loving those we serve when it's not expected, going above and beyond what people would expect. We can seriously have such a powerful impact on those around us when we choose to serve when it's unexpected!
Love you all!
