Week 22: Tutorial Ended
你哋好!
This week we had transfers again and Elder Chuy and I got separated, meaning that my missionary tutorial has officially ended and I actually have to do big boy missionary things now. It was a bit of an adjustment since I'm leading my area now, but I've started settling into it! It's been a really good challenge and has already been pushing me a lot! Plus my companion just came from English work so his Cantonese is a little rusty, meaning that I've had to do a lot more with that as well. Lot's of growth!
Highlights:
- Got to go basketball finding for the first time, which was super fun! We went with Ethen, MK, and Andrew, the three youth in our ward since Elder Chuy wanted to hang out with them one more time before he left. We ended up getting one contact from it, which was awesome!
- I went on exchanges with Elder Chen who dies next transfer, so he imparted all of his old man wisdom on me. Also at one point he thought he smelled stinky tofu and got super excited but it turned out it was just sewage. Bruh. He then proceeded to explain how stinky tofu is so fire. He fed me jellyfish yesterday too. Please send help
- Exchange day was pretty much just getting my new companion Elder Adcox, getting him up to speed on everything that's going on in the area and then showing him around some of our best finding spots. Then the next day we had four hours of finding total cause we had no lessons. Then the day after that we had no finding time cause we had too many lessons.
- Yesterday throughout church all the members who I'm really tight with came up and asked if I was doing okay 😂 Which was very kind of them
- We also visited Jack again, one of our members who hadn't been able to be at church for a while. It was awesome we were able to get it done, it was so awesome to visit him and brighten his day a little!
Spiritual Thought:
This transfer I'm studying humility as an attribute of Jesus Christ that I want to focus on, and yesterday during my personal study I read a talk called Be Thou Humble by Elder Steven E. Snow, and in the talk he says that having humility will give us peace of mind, be better able to serve in our callings, and help us recognize answers to prayers. I loved that those specific blessings are attributed to having humility, because when we have humility we know that we're doing the best we can to follow the Savior, and that's the best thing we can do.
Love you all!
