Week 9: Dīng dīng!
What's up, everyone!
So this week we were pretty much just reviewing all the Cantonese we've learned so far, so we reviewed navigation and stuff like that. A new word we learned was "dīng dīng," which is the word for trolley and might be the best thing ever.
Highlights:
- We got to do a Zoom call with some members in Hong Kong and practice teaching them, which was super fun and made me super excited for heading out TOMORROW!! Still so crazy that this time tomorrow I'll be on my way to Hong Kong. Super excited!!
- Playing a TON of beach volleyball over at the MTC field and managing to get a block and a spike in, which sounds impressive but that's from like 4 total hours of volleyball haha
- In the devotional last night President Newman was going talking with an Elder about a scripture, and President Newman asked "At the judgement, it's gonna be just the Savior and you. So it'll be you and who?" And the Elder said "... the devil?" And President Newman looked so disappointed it was so funny
- This week the Elders in my district were trying to figure out how we were all gonna pack since our room is so small, so I said that I thought I could be done packing in like 45 minutes tops, and they all thought I was joking, and then today I finished packing in 35 minutes 🙌
- We got to hang out with President and Sister Christiansen again on Thursday which was super fun! They're always really fun to talk to and they promised to print us some talks and stuff to read on our flight to Hong Kong which was really nice!
Spiritual Thought:
I read a talk this week by Elder Gary E. Stevensen called "Days Never to Be Forgotten." It was so good, and I'd definitely recommend a read! One of the things he talked about was how for the rising generation, teenagers and young adults, this upcoming decade of our lives can be a time "never to be forgotten" if we make the Savior and our relationship with Him, serving others, and following the gospel our top priorities. I know that if we do those things and strive to follow the Savior, He will help us to have some of the most incredible years of our lives.
Love you all!
